Kyojin Japanese Buffet Menu

Sorry, We are updating this restaurant menu details.

The food is pretty good and the hibachi is a nice add on for the buffet. Possibly a little over priced for a buffet style restaurant but if you consider how much it would cost to go to a similar restaurant in this area and get the same food it's a good price. Servers are nice and the food is consistent. So not a must see but not a bad place for casual dinner.

Perfect birthday party or corporate luncheon joint. Casual environment, excellent sushi-- crappy ginger and mediocre tea. Excellent service and wide variety of dishes and desserts, in addition to sushi. Worth the price you pay for the buffet.

Don't even bother with this place! I'd give this place 0 stars if I could. The booth we were sat in had a urine like smell, the food was cold and unremarkable in every way. Cold fried rice at 6:00pm on a Friday night? $19.95/person for the buffet? We walked out paying $50 for two of the WORST plates of "Japanese/Chinese" food I've ever had. We feel like we were robbed! My husband still tipped our server because she was the only decent part of the whole experience. Our waters were never empty and she brought all of our cutlery and cleared our table in a timely manner. (The one round we had before running out the door.) Don't let them rip you off too!

This place is great! For about $20 you get to eat unlimited sushi, sashimi, and crab! The quality of the fish is pretty good, even though some of the rolls might sit there for a little too long sometimes before they switch them to fresh ones. They also have hot food, however I've never really tried it as I always go for the sushi. Desserts are not good at all but who cares about desserts in a Japanese buffet?

I hadn't been to Kyojin in over 9 years. I went recently for lunch and I have to say it was bad all around. Meh is the feeling. And not just that...they have some serious health safety issues that really concerned me. For one, they offer a self serve Hibachi where customers serve themselves raw chicken, raw shrimp and using the same tongs serve themselves veggies. Potentially very dangerous. Even worse, the tongs slide right into the chicken juice so the handles are covered it in. I walked by again later and the chicken tongs were now laying atop the broccoli. OH MY GAWD. The handsink for the hibachi chef to use is visible to us customers. It was dirty and blocked by dirty dishes. Two other big no-no's. The bathrooms were old and dirty. The salads were old and seriosly nasty to look at. It was evident to me that the staff do not care about maintaining the buffet clean or organized and that the same food had been sitting there all day. Negative stars for health hazard, shame on you. 1 star for the bland, boring food. 4 stars for tons of seating - would great for groups of the place wasnt so gross. 2 stars for dirty bathrooms 3 stars for "as expected" buffet service 1 star for 90% chinese food in a Japanese buffet...talk about Bait and Switch. Bleech. Do I have to say it? I won't be back.

Service was good, waiter was very attendant. Food selection was limited with exception for the sushi. However, the sushi rice had an odd non-sushi like texture which made the sushi unappetizing. Sashimi was much better and quite fresh. Each crawfish was either really salty or extremely bland. And was kept cold! I prefer hot crawfish! Please have stricter policies about children going to the buffet area unattended. Our party witnessed a child going around and picking up oysters and shrimp and placing them back on the platter with their bare hands!! It was offputting to say the least. Price was alright for a buffet, but I think you can find another place with better quality for that price!

Pretty Decent Buffet. They have good sushi and sashimi, a Mongolian stand, raw bar and pretty decent dessert. They seem to have a wider variety of things than some of the places I've been.

Sushi selection was different and delicious. We took our two teenagers here to eat. They enjoyed it. The other foods were good, but the sushi is where it's at. Dessert is typical for an Asian buffet. Drinks were refilled, but staff wasn't really around to check on us.

I will never go back. Floor was sticky ! Food was gross. The only thing good was the waitress coming around for refills with soda. What happened new management...?? Eww

Pretty decent buffet. Good selection of sushi and tons of fried food. Desserts could be better. POC is still my favorite buffet in area, but this place is okay for location and price.

My family stopped by here before going down to our keys house for lunch. This is another restaurant I can walk into and the owner recognize my family members which is great because then I feel reassured that my experience at this restaurant will be good. Even though this is an updated review there isn't much else I would say lol. I love that I live close to this place, that the food is always great from the sushi, to hibachi, to desserts, etc. I usually come here when I want to stuff my face with sushi though because the quality is great (and the price isn't bad either). I will continue to recommend people to come here if they are looking for a ayce sushi buffet. I still believe it is the best in the area.

I love this place. Came by again a second time. I got there at 12 and the food was fresh. The sushi was amazing. Despite the negative reviews, the two times I've come it it's always been good and for the price it's amazing.

Just got home from there and had a large bout of diarrhea...Nuff said! Some of the food (especially the sushi) isn't fresh! Edited to add that my diarrhea lasted 2 days! I should report them and their not so fresh food to the county!

I like sushi and this place sure have fresh sushi bar. To start I go for their fish and rice sushi with some pink ginger, a cup with ill sauce and wasabi and a cup of spice mayo. My second plate consist of the rest of the sushi selection with more pink ginger. By that time I'm full with a happy stomach, No DESSERT for me. Wife goes more for little sushi, ( she likes the tempura and said it was not crispy) and the rest of the Buffet selection. I said to try the Hibachi station, but did not. Well for the price of the lunch ($10.95 per person) I can not get a better deal. The service was great, removing the empty plates fill the glass etc.

Well, that happened. I can officially cross eating at Kyojin off my Miami bucket list. I thought my eyes would be bigger than my stomach, but apparently my memory was a bit fuzzy. I recalled rows and rows of food, but I created way too much hype for the friend I brought with me. This buffet didn't have anything on a typical California Asian buffet. A couple of standout items I did enjoy were the miso soup, seaweed salad with a yummy sweet dressing, fresh honeydew, and decent mocha cake frosting. Sadly, those are the only items I can list. This is a meat eater's restaurant with a mere three hot veggie dishes - oversauced mushrooms, broccoli, and green beans. There was only one vegetarian sushi. At least they had dessert. Overall, a big disappointment with an even bigger price tag at $18!

I go here on and off. Around 5-8 time a year mostly because of the long commute. The place is great. There are something i will not touch, like crabs leg or oysters (because it is obviously frozen and not fresh) but I usually go for lunch and those are not available anyway. So here is the thing. Since this place for some reason got some bad reviews and I do not know why. Here is the 411. It's around $15 for lunch, and $23-$25 (not sure of the exact price) for dinner. For Lunch, they do not have Sashimi (their best part, if you ask me), Oyster, Crab legs, or Unagi Sushi. And on the Hot bar, they do not have tempura, and Steam Fillet Fish (*amazing). And They do not have cheesecake from the desserts stuff. Those are things that I notice anyway, i am sure there are more. So that's the different between Lunch and Dinner. If you are fine with that, then just go for the lunch. The price is good for what they have. Because for Lunch (and dinner as well), they have amazing Seaweed Salad. Pretty good Salmon Sushi and other variety of fishes. (It seem fresh to me so I do not know what other people were talking about. And I go to this place several times) And they have amazing Calamari on the Hot Bar. Fairly good Hibachi. Some veggies, hot and cold. Decent chinese stuff on the hot bar. and the standard affair for a typical Sushi Buffet (ice-cream, cakes, fried rice, noodles, etc.) What more can you ask for Lunch? Personally I think this place is not perfect but it's great non-the-less. I would give it a 4/5. If their Oyster and their crab legs are fresh, i would give it a five.

Having dinner with friends...enjoying my spare time at my favorite buffet...Kyojin is South Miami's best Japanese and Oriental food Buffet so far :-) Next week, my classes start, i will be very busy then :-( hoping to come at least ones a week :-) Keep the good job Kyojin!

Love it. Everyone I know who has been here loves it. I've seen people accidentally flip their chairs because they were so excited to go back to the buffet for round two. Good variety of sushi and I love the jicama salad, fried scallops, green beans, and donut biscuit things. It's easy to eat healthy here if you want to but who goes to a buffet to eat healthy? I just go to stuff myself and people watch. Ambience is whatever. Just don't sit in the front left corner because it reaks of something terrible plus cleaning supplies. Every. Time.

I am currently 24 hours into one of the worst bouts of food poisoning I've ever had in my life after eating at this dump yesterday at lunchtime. I ate mostly salmon sushi, but also a few of their dismal crab rangoons. I threw up all night and now my stomach is cramped so hard that I'm practically suicidal. Thanks, Kyojin...I'd rather spend six hours in line at the DMV in Hialeah than ever set foot in this place again. Enter at your own risk, and should you choose to, prepare yourself for the possible onset of a raging gastrointestinal nightmare.

Ya know, it's an all you can eat buffet. It really can only be SO good unless it's one of those crazy Vegas ones (I guess). I went ALL the time to the one in Boca when I was in high school so when I had a weird buffet craving (that's a thing) I dragged my husband here. For lunch on the weekends it's about $13 which isn't bad. I wouldn't go for dinner on the weekends it's like $20 (not worth it in my opinion). There were plenty of sushi options, I love that many of them actually had raw fish. All of the pieces I had were fresh. The salad and ginger dressing was really good, I probably ate more of that than anything! I sampled a few of the cooked items and liked those too- especially the sesame bun. My husband had the hibachi and they gave him so much he didnt' even want anymore when he finished his plate. Not a bad choice if you get that buffet craving.

I usually don't go to a Sushi buffet. (Because Sushi has a lot of rice....) But the food here is not bad. Price is reasonable.

A fairly large Japaneses buffet with quite a bit to choose from. Everything I tried was ordinary, good just nothing to make you want to come back for more. My daughter had been wanting to check it out so we did. Four of us came here and luckily I did not over eat like you can easily do at a Buffet. The inside is medium sized, simple Asian decor with a huge buffet table lined up in the middle. Off to the side in the back is the hibachi table where you can walk up and order. This was what I enjoyed the most. The hibachi was very good. The sushi is also set up on another long table where the chef's make the sushi fresh. All the sushi I saw were your basic rolls. The rice, noodles, and other hot items such as the wontons all were just OK. This is what happens at a buffet. The food sits for awhile and gets soggy and just doesn't taste that great. All in all it was not bad, I would probably come here again if I was in the mood for Japanese. The place seemed to be clean and service was good.

I have tried pretty much every sushi spot in SW Miami Dade and what I can tell you about Kyojin is... This place is terrible!!! The sushi tastes old, the pieces of sushi are small and they don't have much of a variety neither. If you are looking for a good sushi place to eat in the South Miami or Kendall area then your guaranteed best bet would be Shinju on Sunset and 87th ave. They have more variety for sushi and sashimi and the tempura shrimp served for dinner is awesome. Oh yea and the staff here sucks and the seating is a bit uncomfortable. I'll put it to you like this if you are a fan of sushi and are looking for flavorful sushi at a good price then do not come here.. Now if you are looking to blow some cash on some cheap sushi, then by all means this place is for you.

Highly doubt the freshness of their Sushi. Only had a plate of simon sashimi. You can tell the simon meats are not compact and very unfresh. Carb legs are way too salty and have fishy smells, like being stored for very long time. Feel like throw up the whole night after left this place.

Came today, on Mothers Day thinking it would be a good idea since the food should be fresh. However, the food was disgusting. Theres very little sushi selection (in comparison to Shinju's buffet), & the few that were there were horrible: very stuck together and mushy. Also, i noticed that when the workers need to add more crab legs to refill... they open the cabinets underneath the crab leg's spot and get it from there. It smelled too fishy and the meat was hard to pull out from the shell. It would stay stuck inside. Never fresh. Another example was the long shrimp tempura... i bit into it and the inside came right out of the flaky and "shelly" part. It wasnt moist. Veryy dry. The buckets of ice cream (most of them anyway-chocolate, cookies and cream, vanilla) were empty the whole time. Overall: it was a bad experience and I will never go again. I will definetely continue to go to Shinju instead.

3 months ago this would have been a 5 star review. We haven't been here since January and the food quality has tanked. The sushi is decent, have tp admit that this place has the best tuna I have had at a buffet, but the regular food has no flavor and all the dumplings are empty. So sad, I used to love this place.

    (3)
  • Joseph S.

Nothing was fresh except the hibachi part. Went there on a Saturday night, place was empty so I should have known. Every piece of sushi looked old. The Chinese portion wasn't good either. Would go to shinju 100 times out of 100 instead of the place. The booth seat was ripped, I can't believe this place is still open.

I think Kyojin should be recognized as "that place all the Filipinos go after meeting together for mass". I have been here twice now, both times after congregating with my extended Filipino family at mass, and this place is starting to grow a special place in my list of favorite Asian places. The staff is just so friendly. The food is all right, and there is no rush to get out. In one of the previous already written Yelp reviews, someone said that if you are looking for a first class buffet, look elsewhere, and that is the truth! Although I would like to say the food is amazing, it is all right. It is good for a buffet, but I wouldn't say that it is as good as Akashi or Red Koi sushi. The food can be fresher, but you get wait you paid for, and you pay for quality not quantity. Tips for your visit: 1) Go straight to the hibachi grill. It's honestly one of my more favorite places in Kyojin. You get the choice of either chicken or New York steak garnished with any vegetables you want. 2) The sushi is okay, but most of the good stuff is served at the end of the sushi line. By good, I mean most of the stuff with tempura and tempura flakes. 3) The bathroom is dirty, so if you are planning to stuff yourself and then use the bathroom to excrete what you just ate, think again! The bathroom reminds me of the sixth layer of hell. Yellow liquid all over. Overall, it is a good place for hanging out with family and friends! Cheap price and friendly staff.

Horrible. Limited variety of shushi (they didn't offer tuna!!), there is not sashimi, the hibachi was terribly limited... And the worst: most of the shushi weren't fresh, and that's a sin I won't forgive. The only good thing is the price, but I was in cheaper places with better shushi.

I am NOT a fan of any buffet and find them quite gross to be honest but my fiance's children LOVE buffets so we take them to all different kinds (and all over). We took them to the same Kyojin but in Fort Lauderdale and the food was OK. Since moving to Brickell, we have been trying to find a buffet in the area and then stumbled upon the same Kyojin. They had snow crab which was awful and I could not even finish. I tried several of their sushi rolls and only liked one out of the many that I tried. The lo mein was unbearable and the shrimp tempura had so much breading on it that I was unsure if there was even a shrimp underneath it all! The cookies & cream icecream was out and the only appealing flavor that I saw (I should be thankful that it was out seeing as how I am lactose intolerant and would have had a night of pain had I eaten the cookies & cream). The chocolate fountain was like 12 inches high, not much of a chocolate fountain (what his kids go to buffets for). All & all, I don't think we will be visiting this buffet again. There weren't a lot of options there.

I gave this place 4 stars AS A LUNCH OPTION, I would have given it 3.5 stars if I could have. I went for lunch and was pleasantly surprised with the sushi options. While there was nothing spectacular, or any rolls that really stood out the variety really made the experience worthwhile. I also really enjoyed the hibachi option. You were able to choose from chicken, steak and squid (i went with the chicken and steak) the chef asked me how I wanted my steak cooked and it had pretty good flavor. Everything else; soup, Chinese food and fried american options were really nothing special, in fact it is sort of unfair I comment on these as I didn't really waste plate space on them. They had a selection of muscles and shrimp which were pretty. They also had a nice variety of asian salads, which were unique and tasty. I like to comment on value in my reviews. The reason why I say this is a good lunch option is based on price. Lunch during the week cost $11 and is really a good deal for unlimited sushi and hibachi. On weekends lunch price i believe jumps up to $13 which is still very reasonable for what you get. However there is a steep jump in price to $20 for dinner, which to me is rather unreasonable and I would not go at that price.I would rather go out to a sit down sushi or hibachi restaurant for that price than to Kyojin. I don't see how this restaurant could expand on the buffet making dinner worth double the price, as I would imagine you are probably getting the exact same buffet spread. This place would have gotten 5 stars from me if; the sushi bar had a few less fried options (not everything needs to have tempura shrimp) or the variety was a little stronger.

Kyojin is probably the best Japanese Buffet in Miami - in comparison to Ichiban, Ooki Sushi, and Shinju. When we're craving sushi and other AYCE items that are usually found at Japanese buffets, this is where we go. I usually base the quality of an establishment that serves sushi on their Salmon Nigiri Sushi - if it smells fishy and just doesn't taste too good, forget it - I'm not coming back. But if it tastes fresh and is like "buttah baby" - I'm definitely coming for seconds and thirds. Kyojin's Salmon Nigiri Sushi AND Sashimi both pass the test! Kyojin has a huge assortment of salads, nigiri sushi, and sushi rolls. They also have fried rolls, squid, meat, noodles, rice, sesame balls, crab rangoon, shrimp and vege tempura, crab legs, shrimp, mussels, oysters, and the usual dessert buffet with a chocolate fountain, ice cream, cakes, cheesecakes, jell-o, fruit, and pudding. Yup, we definitely get our money's worth here!

I went there for the all you can eat buffet a couple of times. The food was ok and they had a decent selection. Nothing too impressive but not too bad either.

I think this is alright of a place. The sashimi and sushi selection is pretty good. I just cant do this that often as it is a buffet. Dinner is better with seafood. I think its $30. I wish they had a regular menu, haha. But for the price, its worth all the seafood.

I lived in South Miami for more than 10 years and when Kyojin first opened about 6 years ago, I was very excited about it. Finally, an Asian buffet restaurant in South Miami. Ever since then, there wouldn't be a week that would pass that I wouldn't come to this wonderful restaurant. Their food is just super addicting that haunts me to keep coming back, its a mix of Japanese, Chinese and some Korean, the desserts are so amazing and the fruits are always fresh, and oh!! dont get me started on their sushi, sushi one of the best i ever tasted, and I do travel a lot. Not only that, but the staff is super friendly, some has worked there ever since they opened and they get so excited whenever they see me and calls me by name. The sushi chef are so friendly and whenever I ask for something, they always make it for me. Overall, I give this restaurant 5 star rating. I highly recommend it to anybody, couples, families, or even if you're going solo!!!!This restaurant will always be a part of my dining itenirary.

Love going here for pig out day. If you are a sushi bar fan, well this is the best place where they make a variety of sushi. The price is reasonable with the food and the presentation they have. My daughter loves the chocolate fountain they have and the sweet treats. My wife loves the Hibachi and Mongolian stir fry section. My favorite here is the TEMPURA, the tastiest and biggest Tempura I've seen. They render awesome service here too and the parking is not a problem. Highly recommended if your a fan of Japanese food.

I do like this place, but the quality has gone down since they opened. I'm torn between three and four stars. The food doesn't seem as fresh as when they opened and many ingredients have been replaced for cheaper ones. What happened to the coconut shrimp? Has anybody seen it? That seems to be a problem with all-you-can-eat Asian fare restaurants after they've been open for a while. But for the price, the food still can't be beat. Beverage service is totally hit or miss. Don't expect extensive conversations with your server. The sushi is good and relatively fresh. The desserts are varied. The oysters too are relatively fresh and the chicken and steak bits are well seasoned. It is a notch above you're average Chinese all-you-can-eat-with-a-side-sushi-bar type restaurants. I never eat crab legs in Asian restaurants because they always taste way too dry as if they've been siting in the freezer too long. So go for lunch, skip the crab legs, and really get a great value. Easy parking all the time. Updated August 6th, 2012, from a 3 stars to 5 stars Wow. What a difference. I went there for dinner on July 9th, with my family. For the price, you cannot beat the freshness, variety and service. Yes...my beloved coconut shrimp seems to be off the menu for good. But there were plenty of oysters, shrimp and fresh sushi to go around. Our waitress spoke excellent English and she was on the ball with all our needs. This will once again be one of my favorite places to dine. Ahhh....it's good to be home.

You're not going to find much high quality or crunchy/tempura sushi here, but for 20 bucks, you get all you can eat mid-range sushi and various other Asian dishes. You'll also finally get to try the kinds of sushi you're not sure about. The place was clean, but reviews about children running around are definitely worth paying attention to if you're a germ-o-phobe. (Tip to the restaurant: Set the counter further back so children can't touch the food.) A pleasant surprise was the ice cream -- the green tea ice cream was delicious and the red bean was also tasty. If you're in the mood for a substantial dinner, this is the perfect place to go, since you get both the sushi and the quantity.

Not as good of a selection as I expected. Didn't care for the oysters. Took a little while to get the ticket after we were finished. Still a pretty good deal for your $$ if you love sushi.

Went for a late lunch on a weekday. Place was packed and we were 9 but we got a table pretty quick. There was a good variety of sushi and sashimi, some of it pretty good and some meh. There was a variety of Chinese- type foods as well, plus salads, fruits, desert cakes and 6 or 8 different ice creams. All in all I left the place quite full and satisfied. Will I come again? Yes, probably; you can't beat 10.99 for all you can eat. And the quality of the food is much better than at most Asian buffets. The dings: 15% gratuity slapped on automatically. Bathroom was flooded (not good at all!)

One of my favorite places in south florida. The sushi is all very good quality, with a tremendous selection to choose from. I usually start with a bowl of miso, and it never disappoints. There's a quality mongolian bbq, a chocolate fondue fountain, a pretty decent raw bar if you feel like having oysters, and a great selection of ice cream (the red bean and grean tea flavors are really wonderful.) The hot food buffet is pretty good, nothing spectacular, but the sushi is really where it's at. Whenever I leave this place I pretty much always find myself in a serious food coma from stuffing my face with sushi until I can not eat a single roll further, and it is totally worth it. The lunch during weekdays is extremely well priced, and the atmosphere is very comfortable for such a large buffet style restaurant. I can't wait to go again!

Japanese buffet but the sushi is limited to salmon and tuna. The yakisoba was one dimensional (** stars) as were the teriyaki pork chops (*1/2 stars) and soy sauce chicken (** stars) the service was excellent and for a busy lunch we definitely were seated quickly, The one saving grace was the abundance of food. While it wasn't anything amazing, everything was fresh, rotated and well prepared. No old or mushy food here!!!

CLEAN! CLEAN! CLEAN! That's the first thing I noticed when I walked in. This is probably one of the cleanest buffets I've ever been to. Even with the food, Which I'm not a huge fan of ( MSG is a no no) looks fairly fresh and not like its been sitting there for hours. I come to stuff my face with all of the crab legs I can until I cant breathe anymore! The staff is kind of stand off-ish and when u ask for extra napkins they reach in their apron and only hand you 3 or less...what's up with that?! Why not just leave us a stack and not have me annoy you for more? They have large selection of sushi, desserts, hibachi grill items, and seafood...and lots of flat screen tv's too.

I have been before and enjoyed it thoroughly. As of lately, the quality is going down the drain. They charge far more than any Oriental buffet, but their food is becoming just as mediocre. I mistakenly paid $17.00 for an adult dinner on a weeknight and $10.00 for a child's plate. I will never do that again. The sushi was anything but fresh. I found the fake garnish (something reminiscent of lettuce from a child's pretend kitchen) very unappealing. The hot food part of the buffet was decent, but overly greasy. There wasn't even that big of a selection. They have a hibachi grill in which they make-to-order chicken, scallops, shrimp, and steak. I had some shrimp and scallops that were not flavorful, only salty. The dessert buffet was meager. The sad thing is that I would have rated this a four star place in the past. They need to lower their prices or bring back up the quality of their food!

I LOVE this place! The sushi is average, but they have such an incredible variety of foods that it doesn't matter. The fried fan tail shrimp is the best I've ever tasted! The waitresses are also very attentive and will never let your coke get too low in the glass :). Much better quality (and variety) than Shinju on Sunset Drive.

Your typical Japanese buffet. Average, but a large assortment of sushi. Wait staff at this location is hit or miss. Worth a try if you want a quick lunch and your are in the area. Nothing special though.

I will never eat here again. We used to go quite often. (About once a week.) The service was never good, but the buffet was above average in their selection, unique offerings, and quality. So what happened? While we came to not expect service here, there are just some unforgivable service-related issues that cannot be forgiven. One busy night, we sat down to eat (after waiting about 40 minutes.) The place was SWARMING with kids. I mean, we were literally tripping over them. Okay, so fine, it's a family restaurant. But it's also a buffet, which brings us to two problems: Carrying plates of food while tripping over unattended children is dangerous. Thankfully South Miami Hospital is right across the street. Two? Unattended Children at a Buffet. Let me say that again. UNATTENDED CHILDREN AT A BUFFET. Allow me to paint this picture for you: Snotty, unwashed, filthy little fingers poking at everything, licking chocolate strawberries then PUTTING THEM BACK, touching their noses, the floor, their hair, their friends, then MY FOOD. Repeatedly. This was not one isolated child. There were easily 10 at a time running about. Before we even took our first plates, we went to the manager and alerted him. He didn't seem interested. We pointed out the HEALTH ISSUES. He said "I AM NOT A BABYSITTER" Really? Well. I am not a CUSTOMER. Not anymore. We called the health department and reported the incident. Oh, I almost forgot to mention that they have desserts here: Their specialty is called The Icing On The Cake: THEY TRIED TO CHARGE US. As in, the very same manager who was well aware that we hadn't eaten, literally FOLLOWED us out the door and tried to shove a "Bill" in our faces. I suggested another, more appropriate, place in which he could shove that bill.

I think there is a reason for the low, low price of all this food... I have only been once and will NEVER return. The smell of bad seafood when you enter should have been the first sign. Not a single thing I had was remotely edible. I know this place is a hit with my co-workers, but BLECH!! When I left I had to go somewhere and grab a sub because I literally couldn't eat anything on my plate.

I love this place! I love sushi but I am allergic to fish, so I can only eat shrimp or octopus/squid rolls. Luckily for those allergic to fish can feel safe knowing that each roll has the ingredients listed On the pane for consumer... Don't see that at shinju where I almost died.. The deserts are kind of bleh, but don't let that stop you! For lunch it's 12 bucks a person and you can get a big old teapot fill of tea for like 2.50! We always share after eating and they have a chocolate fountain with marshmallows and sticks to stab the gooey marshies. Dinner is a bit overpriced, I've been there. Well for me since I cannot eat fish, my boyfriend really takes advantage of the buffet though.. I don't know that it would be good for groups... Tables are a little tight, so you'd have to put them together and the booth holds 4 only I think..

By chance I found myself at the strip mall on US1 and 62nd running errands, and decided to check out Kyojin. OMFG. What a feast!! For $19 one is entitled to all you can eat Chinese food and soups, sushi, hibachi bar, and dessert cart (sweets are not my thing, but they do have a chocolate mini fountain, which I thought was nice). This family restaurant is nicely decorated and the staff was very polite. They offer an array of Japanese beers and many different kinds of Saki. The sushi is fresh as its constantly being prepared by hibachi chefs that cook behind the bar. One is also able to go to the hibachi bar and order steak or fish, which is prepared to order. Not the loudest place, but not the quietest either. It's a family restaurant, after all. I give it an A+.

Eh... The place looks nice inside and the service is pretty good. The booths are pretty cramp. The food selection is better than most. Nothing was bad, but nothing was good either. Out of the Japanese buffets I've been to, this place is probably the worst. Its not really an insult, there are a lot and its only slightly worse than most places of this kind in Miami. There is nothing really rememberable about this place that I can really say. I can't really recommend this place.

I was really kind of nervous about eating at an all you can eat sushi buffet but when I walked in I was surprised (in a good way). The restaurant was much nicer than I imagined and the food wasn't bad. They have almost any type of sushi you are looking for. In true buffet form, you grab your plate and glide from one type of sushi to the next. If it's a busy night the sushi will be taste much more fresh, however if it's slow the sushi can sit out and sometimes get a little tough. They also have salads and normal Chinese food buffet stuff, though I tend to stay away.

First, let me start by saying that I have been a regular Kyojin customer since it opened in my area! I visited the Kyojin location in South Miami yesterday (Labor Day) at about 2pm. I am a slow eater, so as usual, I paced myself with a small plate of sushi, then a small plate from the hot bar. Things were just not the way they usually are - my sushi rolls were warm (I am guessing warm rice was used), the fried foods on the hot bar were cold and greasy, and the spring rolls and crab rangoons were almost empty inside the shells. Just not up to par! I went back hoping for fresh items several times, only to realize that because it was 2:30, the bar was no longer being refilled. I saw an old man scraping the last of the rice pudding into his bowl, trying desperately to get a bowl full. When you say that a buffet is all-you-can-eat, shouldn't all items be available until all guests leave? Things were almost empty at 2:30 (when lunch "ends"). The sushi chefs were gone, the hibachi was closed and the hot bar and dessert bars were almost empty. There weren't even bowls for ice cream. Yet people were sat at 2:15!!! Are they expected to eat all they can in fifteen minutes? I also watched several employees go around with plates and fill them up with the last bit of many things that were there, leaving nothing for guests who may have wanted more of a particular item. We were not warned in any way that no more items would be prepared after 2:30. There should be a sign posted or the servers should let the guests know that if they want something that is empty, they can ask to have it refilled before lunch is over. It takes quite a bit to upset me, but I really was disturbed by this. Not only was the food quality way worse than usual, but all you can eat means just that - not all that you care to leave out after 2:30. I spoke to the manager, politely letting him know that we weren't really satisfied, and he took a whopping 20% off of our bill. To be honest, I was insulted. He blamed what happened on the server, who promptly came over and took the check from him, volunteering to pay for our slightly discounted meal so she wouldn't "get in trouble." I refused to let the server pay, and the manager watched us go back and forth and did not offer to take care of the bill any further. The server insisted that it was her fault for not letting us have a 'last call' (though we have never gotten told anything like that there before), and she kept trying to pay for our check. I finally handed her $25 for the $18 bill and left. Not only was the food quite mediocre at best, but the overall experience was awful today -- the manager was irate, rude and completely disrespectful. I'm really sad to say it, but I will never go back - I have been there so many times and have always loved it. People should be notified that food stops being prepared when lunch ends... and there should be a sign on tables letting folks know they can ask for more of a particular item if the item is empty. I paid $25 for a meal that I was completely unsatisfied with and had the wonderful displeasure of dealing a really horrible manager. It's not the money - $25 won't kill me. It's the principle. Just pathetic.

Love this buffet! The selection of sushi is great, the food is fresh and is delicious. One of my favorites was the shrimp tempura and the cream cheese rangoons were good too. They should add a few more kinds of meat/chicken. They have snow crab but I did not try it. Our total was $18.00 for two people.

Ok, I figured it out. Eating here is a strategy game. If you come on a crowded day you find yourself eyeing the food before you get up to make sure they've put fresh stuff out. On the other hand come on a slow night and you can tell some of the rolls have sat there for hours. I still love the place though, busy or slow it's clean and yummy!

16.95$ for dinner ... not bad, because theres a lot of options. for instance, i got the small udon soup for starters.. so small i had to had a second bowl but it was good. then i got a bunch of rolls. in all fairness ... theyre not gourmet or anything but they were all pretty good and nothing tasted old or rancid which is always good ... right? theres a grill for your meats of choice but i didnt get any of that .. i went for the korean bbq which wasnt as hot as i would have liked it, but it was decent on flavor. ive never been to a japanese buffet place before and i think its a good idea if what you want is to have a little bit of a lot of things... i just dont think ill go back for dinner again cause of the price... almost 17$ ... for that, i rather concentrate on one dish and get it really well prepared somewhere else maybe this place is cheaper for lunch and if thats the case, i wouldnt mind hitting it again.

I admit that I have only been to this place once - but what a great first impression. It's better than OK. The food is fantastic, and the menu diversity is exactly what you'd expect from a combination Sushi bar/ Chinese Food fusion restaurant. The bottom line is that I will be coming back for more. They are a bit more pricey than another one of my favorite spots, but for South Miami/ US-1 area, the price is right on.

All you can eat sushi and chinese food for $16 bucks, This joint offers lots of food for a moderate prices and if you like sushi you will love this palce because there is lots of sushi plus in top of that you can have some Generals TOS chicken or some ice cream. The service is pretty good and the staff is friendly. A bit over priced though so i give it three stars.

WOW! $18 gets you into heaven. Who knew? There is a full-on sushi buffet with the regulars: tuna, california, dragon roll, but also MARLIN. A full Chinese buffet including two soups and dessert as well. A very ample selection in which the quality of the food is not compromised.

Like most Japanese buffets, this place was pretty gross. If you would like a plate full of cold greasy fried food, warm sushi and a side of MSG migraine make it to Kyojin.

I have been to this restaurant a couple of times, it was just conveniently located close to where I was doing my internship. Anyways, I thought the buffet style was nice, a wide variety of rolls to choose from ,plus the price was good for lunch. Parking is sometimes an issue since it's located inside a shopping plaza.

The sushi isn't that fresh but it's decent. However, Shinju has much better prices and better quality sushi. Overall it's great for when you're really hungry and really craving unique sushi which lacks in quality a bit.

Driving down US1 on a road trip, we were starving for lunch in an area we didn't know. We asked the kid at the vitamin store (no help! :-), and then saw the sign for Kyojin Japanese Buffet. We asked three Asian adults on their way out, "Was it good? Should we eat here?", and all three gave us a smile and said "Yes!" Good enough for us - we were in. We've eaten at Asian buffets before, and at $10.95 I really think this was among the best values we have found. We enjoyed ourselves a lot. They offered a wide variety of sushi, and we ate a lot of great food. The rice was nice - they used short grain rice, flavored it well (lightly vinegared and sweet), and served it at the right temperature. (At a bad buffet, sushi rice is often cold and chalky.) The sushi was fresh because the place was crowded and the plates had a fast turnover - we liked that a lot. There was also a lot of hot cooked food. (I particularly liked the grilled calamari rings.) And they had 8 different kinds of good ice cream to dip by hand for desert. They also had low sodium soy sauce along with regular. I did have a few minor complaints - traffic flow was congested because it isn't clear where to go first (and because you can only open half of the ice cream freezer at a time.) Also, I don't love having lots of children reaching into a buffet - raising the desert bar 6 inches would help. Our waitress smiled at me and laughed - it was a nice place. (Or I'm funny looking? :-) And when it was done, we paid $10.95 each. This was a good deal. I would eat here again.

I love japanese food and japanese buffet. My boyfriend has a big appetite and sometimes we have an itch to eat at a buffet. Coincidently, a co-worker recommended this place. So with an open mind we went to try it. Although there are four buffet tables with endless possibilities, the food didn't look so appetizing because it didn't look very fresh. I asked for a sprite, and the waitress refilled my drink with water. Which is totally understandable seeing as how it looks the same. However, we went on a monday evening at 5:45 closer to 6 and it wasn't too busy.

This is the place to go if you want to try a variety of different foods all at once and some sushi that you are not sure if you would like or not. Everything is about average, but it is a nice looking place and for $8.95 for lunch you can not beat the price. The dessert area looked really good with many types of ice cream, cakes, fruit and even a chocolate fountain. I never made it that far after trying everything else. If you eat too much, South Miami Hospital is right nearby!

As much as I like LOTS of food (preferably eat all you can buffets of reasonable prices) I like GOOD food even more. Quite frankly, most Chinese buffets tend to be pure unlimited quantities of crappy quality. I expected that from this place, and was so pleasantly surprised we have been there several times in just the last few months and are going there again right now. The price is fair (not cheap) but considering that the sushi is fresh and quite delicious, I have no complaints. My experience is that desserts are their more "so-so" element. The sashimi is great as is most of the sushi. I have only tried a few of the Chinese dishes which were decent. The grill station also lets you have lamp, pork (which I don't eat), chicken, as well as many kinds of stir fry. This is a really great deal for buffets even if everyone is not looking for sushi. I recommend it (and have no financial dealings with the owners :-) ). Imran imran.com/media/blog flickr.com/photos/imrana…

This is great place to go if you're trying to eat a ton of sushi on a budget (I believe the lunch buffet is about $9) Neither the sushi or the hot food are going to knock your socks off, but it's still pretty yummy. And the service is definitely average, at best, but it's all you can eat for under $10. What could be bad about that?

Best deal in Miami for lunch. You don't get top of the line sushi but for the price you pay, its an incredible deal. Basically, for the price of one specialty roll in a regular Japanese restaurant you get all you can eat sushi and hot menu items (chicken wings, teriyaki beef, etc) for lunch. Lots of varieties of sushi.

I owe a lot of my happiness to this buffet, no joke. I love sushi in a big way, but with young children, restaurant meals can be tricky! Enter the buffet. We've tried a couple and this is our fave. Easy, delicious, and not too expensive - especially for a weekday lunch. I love the salmon sushi, the plantain shrimp tempura roll (omg good idea) and the escobar (even though I know I shouldn't - google it). My toddler loves the tempura veggies, shrimp, pineapple, and ice cream. Happy place! I love our waitress, too, though now I realize that I don't know her name. We eat at Kyojin every week and it's one of our favorite activities.

I would never go back again, bad bad experience! Yesterday it was my third time in this restaurant, to be honest, it's just because we passed by and were really hungry , if not I wouldn't walk in based on my experience for the first two times. The food varieties were poor during the weekdays , and there was one time while we were still eating , they started to clean the carpet using a really loud vacuum, I felt there was all dust on my food..yesterday was a Friday, I can still tell the sashimi is not fresh, texture and flavor feel like dead fish! Even worse, the waitress was very rude , she spilled water on our table while serving it and didn't say sorry. By the time of 9:30pm, apart from us , there is another couple eating in her area, she pushed us to pay, we did , then she sit down on a chair and kept looking at us impatiently , it's like she was saying : get out of here , so I can clean your mess and go home! so we got out and would never come back .

This is a buffet that is worth visiting. The place looks clean and the sushi that I had tasted fresh. The cooked food is varied and if you are not from Miami you might be shocked that they serve fried sweet plantains. But the plantains are a Miami staple. I went for a weekday work buddies lunch and the food was good, the service is pleasant and the price is reasonable. I have had some creepy buffet experiences, this place is ok.

Probably the best Oriental buffet in the area. It has a darkly appointed and upscale eating area and a great selection of seafood, sushi and fresh vegtables. If you're just a casual sushi diner, the wide variety of selections is a nice opportunity to try something new.... except for pizza sushi (what were they thinking?). There's a small grill to order area that's also a nice change of pace. Service, as such as it is at a buffet, is polite and prompt. And where do they find these hostesses? Overall a pretty nice place to hang for lunch, which is a great deal...

I was a bit leery when this place opened up a few months ago in my neighborhood...Japanese food + buffet service never found a happy ending before, Chinese food always seemed to fare better in buffets but Japanese...? Happily, I found that Kyojin proved to break my cautiousness as it turned out some decent fare. Its also doesn't serve 100% Japanese food either, I spotted some Chinese BBQ spare ribs and a coupla' other chinese dishes but it's all good. The place is a nice buffet restaurant served up with dark wood, booths and tables inside with flat-screen TVs on the walls. The food was decent and I quickly found some "not raw" favorites. You see, I like Japanese food but I dislike eating fish...so most sushi is crossed off that list. Here, I was able to eat all the shrimp tempura I wanted, delicious szchwuan green beans, really good bbq, miso soup, crab rangoon, edamame...so this place is good to bring friends who love eating raw fish and/or land animals, yay! But yes, folks, for those who wanna know, this place does serve sushi, sashimi, baby octopus sushi, prawns, snow-crab legs, salmon, stir-fried fish, and other seafoods too. The sushi bar has a buncha guys churning out rolls constantly...they also have a hibachi grill where the folks can whip up teriyaki, etc. I give it 3 thumbs up, it was decent, and if you feel a mad craving for Japanese food, this place will fill ya up. In my case, I think I ate $25 worth of shrimp tempura in here, mmmm, mmm...

I have had dinner here for the past two Saturdays, we got there and the line was pretty long, but the wait ended up being no more than 10 mintues. I have to say that although I never wanted to come, I find myself actually enjoying this place. The quality of food and service is outstanding, considering its an all you can eat buffet. The sushi is actually really good, they have numerous rolls to pick from that are better than some that Ive had at more upscale sushi spots. There's even a roll with plantains in it. They have a japanese salad bar, soup bar, a hibachi station that offers beef, chicken, and scallops made to order. They have a raw bar with oysters, clams, shrimp, salmon, etc.., theres a hot food section with tempura, and they even have a chocolate fountain, dessert bar, and ice cream station. You cant beat it for the price which is $15 on weekdays and $20 on weekends. AWESOME!!! Very clean, the food is always being made fresh right in front of you, and you can go super casual, and just enjoy.

2.5 -- It's generally unfair to a buffet restaurant to get reviewed by a foodie, particularly one who has had amazing sushi in Japan, LA and NYC. So I won't mention much about the sushi except that seaweed was limp, the fish "fishy," and most items had cream cheese, mayonnaise, or some other americanized ingredients. There were a lot of choices, and they did offer roe. So why did I go? Because sometimes you just want a large variety of stuff in one meal. I like to eat a lot of small bites; I don't care about quantity, but I know that can be the attraction of a buffet. This place is like a Japanese/Chinese buffet rolled in one. The grilled stuff is fine (ask them to make it for you so it'll be warm). The entrees are mostly Chinese-American. There's enough seafood, meat, and vegetables. Like any typical buffett, there's lots of deep fried stuff. At first I was intrigued by the label Korean BBQ and squid, but I was disappointed--I have no idea what marinade they were using. Plenty of dessert options: ice creams (red bean included), sweets, fruits, mini fondue. The surroundings are nice for a buffet (aquariums, flat panels, stone tile floor, etc.) Dinner ~$18

For under $17, you can enjoy some very good Japanese and Chinese cuisine for all-you-can-eat. A very good deal considering all the quality food you get. I can easily consume $60 worth of sushi when I'm there but only pay $16! It's very reasonably priced. The process is quick and painless: come in, sit down, order drinks, and off to the buffet you go. My favorite item there is the tuna tatake/seared sesame tuna. Make sure to ask for the Sesame sauce to add on top of it. It's buttery and makes it a perfect thing to snack on. The sushis are small, but you can get as many as you want! The salmon sushi had that good marbelization of fish fat, indicating that the fish was high quality unlike most all-you-can-eat sushi buffets. You can help yourself to as much ginger and wasabi as you want, which is key for me because I hate asking for more ginger all the time. I love the environment and this is a great way to enjoy alot of sushi at a reasonable price. Most all-you-can-eat sushi places decline severely in quality to be able to make it possible, but Kyojin makes good sushi and at a reasonable price. They also have Lo mein and all kinds of Chinese dishes in addition to a girll where they cook stir-fry and such, and a dessert area. Enjoy!

My favorite buffet in Miami. After going around several Asian buffets (which were cheaper than Kyojin, I do admit) I have to say this one is still my favorite , it offers delicacies I am very familiar with when I was eating in Japanese restaurants in Toronto but I haven't seen any of those foods in Miami. Honorable and must eat delicacies - red bean and green tea ice creams. The tastiest ice creams ever. The staff were very nice and polite, the sushi was tasty and the pecan pie was delicious! Hoping to go back again soon.

First time here...not impressed at all. Im not a regular Sushi eater but I've eaten enough to know the difference. First thing i noticed was the damp mop odor as you walk in the door, then you get a hint fish (usually not a good sign). When you get your plates at the sushi bar they put them almost on the floor in a shelf. The sushi presentation is not very appealing on the serving plates. The guy at the hibachi station was bothered cause he had to put his phone down to make something for me. The tea cups smelled when you drank out of it, probably cleaned with the same mop as the floor. All in all WONT be back here again. Hope that wasnt too brutal

The sushi is plentiful and usually very good. Smaller pieces than a regular Japanese restaurant but you can eat as much as you like. The cold seafood is always "questionnable" tasting...even when fresh. The chinese food is ok. The chicken curry used to be great, but they changed the type of chicken that they use as well as the recipe so now it is kind of bland. The dessert is not too great which is fine with me since I usually fill up on the fresh sushi and would rather skip dessert anyway. The service varies on the server as far as cleaning up your table and refilling your drinks. All in all, it is a great value for plentiful fresh food with lots of variety.

Used to be great, back when they first opened. It's gone downhill markedly since. Earlier this month (September 2012) they were shut down for Florida health inspection violations, including "Observed roach activity as evidenced by 12 live roaches found by rice cookers in prep. area." Reopened after a follow up inspection. Source: myfloridalicense.com/ins… However, they were also closed almost exactly a year before (September 2011) for the exact same violation: "Inspector Lourdes Chantez observed 20 plus live roaches by the back door in the kitchen area. Senior Inspector Morgadanes also observed 10 plus live roaches by prep line in the kitchen." Source: myfloridalicense.com/ins… And in the first recorded inspection, in February 2011, they had a similar violation, although weren't shut down: "Outer openings not protected and vermin and/or environmental cross-contamination present." Source: myfloridalicense.com/ins… Sorry, Kyojin, but if you can't be bothered to adhere to the basic principles of cleanliness of food preparation, I can't be bothered to spend my money at your establishment. As you can see from the inspections, roaches aren't the only violation, but definitely one of the worst. Alas, it was a good run, but I'm done here.

The cost of this place is a bit on the high side for the quality of the food. The seafood taste dry and not fresh and the sushi was ok, not the best in my opinion. Even though it's a buffet restaurant.

If you come, come hungry. Sushi is fresh and delicious (and plentiful - yay for buffets!), and the other seafood is good as well (especially the crab). Very good selection for a reasonable price. Usually we've come around 7 pm for the buffet. Today, we came at 5:45 pm and were pleasantly surprised. The food all looked INCREDIBLY fresh. Like, just-cooked-at-a-fancy-restaurant fresh. There's non-fishy food for those of you who prefer a steak to sushi. My husband asked for the steak at the grill, and it was perfectly seasoned.

I've been here 3 times. The first time it was ok so I decided to go for a second time. I was not even finished my food when I got the bill. Then the owner came, while taking my lasts sips of coke and talking to my friend, and said ok thank you bye.... bye..... She basically kicked me out of the place to stuff for people in. That was rude but I came back again for lunch the 3rd time. It was the horrible experience that made me take the decision of NEVER coming back again. The food was dry, greasy (dripping oil) cold, and the sushi was sitting there for hours. The worst part was when I took a bite of a sushi and it had a putrid flavor (Decaying or rotting and emitting a fetid smell). It was like chewing a rotten tomato but with dead stinky fish. I almost threw up on the table twice. I couldn't swallow it. I had to spit it on the napkin and went to wash my mouth to get rid of the garbage flavor. And for dessert the safest thing to eat was ice cream and their signature marshmallow were not even there. This place sucks, I got sick. I sent me straight to the bathroom if u get my point. Sick, sick... Had stomach ache. Etc.... Don't risk your health, u can get food poisoning here. :(

This is a buffet restaurant and a pretty decent one at best. I feel bad giving it 3 stars, 3 and half is more in line. Came here for lunch and it was packed. The food was good and it looked fresh. The chefs kept turning sushi and sashimi over and over. It was a lunch meeting so I had to behave and was not able to try everything but I will be coming back.

If I close my eyes, I can tell you where each and every item is located at Kyojin, I've been there too many times. But that's all because the grandparents are fans. For me, it's more hit or miss, mostly dependent upon my mood and cravings. But this is defiitely the best buffet I've seen in Miami. It has a huge sushi buffet that is actually quite good, most sushi buffet tastes funny, but not really here. It's not amazing of course, but its got some really good ones, like the plantain topped sushi or the mango sushi, also they have pretty good fresh sashimi and ahi tuna, as well as the dipping sauces for your use (ponzu, eel, etc). In evenings they have the fresh snow crab legs, and more selections - but is more expensive too. And the hot food isn't too bad either, with soups - tempura items - and stir fry stuff. It's okay overall. But the best plan of action is to go in there knowing what to expect and have a plan of how you are going to tackle it all. For many reasons, so you don't eat til it hurts, and so you aren't ingesting too much fillers, so you leave happy and had enough room for all you wanted. Selection is huge, location is great, price is decent (more on the expensive side), atmosphere is lacking and needs some repairs in the roof, but overall it's worth the visit if a buffet is what you are looking for.

Please dont eat here, i didnt even eat and i suffered! Horrible...over priced, cold food, mysterious things in the ice cream. And when we asked the waitress what was in the food she laughed and walked away!!! It was a terrible experience....please save your time and order take out from some other place because this buffet thing will gross you out enough to walk out the door. Plus the kitchen was closed and we weren't even told we'd be served nothing more than the $#!+ that was left

Kyojin is NOT a world-class sushi restaurant, and if that's what you came here expecting, you're going to leave disappointed. That being said, if you're in the mood for all-you-can-eat sushi, sashimi, hibachi, and assorted Asian food, they are the best at what they do. I've eaten here easily a dozen times or more, and I have yet to have a bad meal. The sashimi assortment varies (see note below), but the salmon sashimi is surprisingly good for a buffet. They have a good assortment of traditional sushi rolls, as well as the usual "everything-but-the-kitchen-sink" rolls that seem to be the fashion. The hibachi is good, but nothing outstanding, and the hot dishes are the usual mix of pot stickers, pork dumplings, beef with broccoli, etc. For the price, the quality and variety of Kyojin simply can't be beat. Note: If you enjoy tuna sashimi, as I do, come for dinner, as they do not serve it at lunch. Snow crab legs are served, I believe, on Friday and Saturday evenings.

So I came in with semi high expectations and honestly they were more than met. The sushi was really good and very fresh, not usual for a buffet sushi joint. They also offered hibachi and while it was no Samurai (my personal favorite) it was above average. For the price I would revisit especially for lunch. The sushi is worth the visit.

One of my best friends loves this place for the all you can eat sushi so I've here quite a few times over the last several years. The sushi selection is pretty good - they have a lot of nigiri and sashimi and they even have seaweed salad. There is also a hot bar on the other, which is more standard Chinese buffet food. I would recommend that you stay away from that stuff because it's subpar compared to most Chinese buffets that I've been to. The sushi is fresh but the price for lunch and especially dinner relatively high so I don't think I would actually go here if it were not for my friend. Service is pretty much what you would find at a buffet.

So based on the several bad reviews, I was contemplating on eating here BUT I was in the area and really craving sushi. I went in around 11:45 am , 15 minutes after they opened. The ambience was nice and there were several people already inside. Restaurant looked clean. Staff was nice. Husband didn't like the torn seats in the booth. They have a pretty good assortment of different sushi. It all tasted amazing and fresh. I especially enjoyed the ones with salmon. They do have a small assortment of general Japanese entrees so go there with sushi in mind. They do have a hibachi grill but, I did not get anything from there. The deserts and ice creams are like all typical asian buffets..... Alright. except for the bananas in cherry syrup. It was good and freshly cut, no browning whatsoever. So in overall it was a great dining experience and we plan on going again. For two people with one coke and a water total came up to $25.55. I'm writing this review several hours after eating and no upset stomach ( bubble guts). I highly recommend.

The place was packed so my friend and I decided to give it a try. I always have and after this experience will continue being skeptical of japanese buffets. The food wasn't necessarily bad but I just didn't care too much for it. No doubt there was a plethora of options like all you can eat crab legs, sushi, stir fry station, etc. but I'm more of a quality vs. quantity girl. Quality was just ok. Seemed fresh but bland in flavor. Even the green tea ice cream was missing something. I enjoyed the crab legs. I don't think I will return but you seem to have a full house of loyal customers.

I have gone to this place a few times and it is decent each visit. I went last night & I have gone 3 or 4 times during lunch at work. Last night was the first time my Sprite came out a little flat, this usually does not occur. Their evening prices are a bit too pricey though. For a buffet at night, it cost $17 per person minus the the drinks. The drinks are anywhere from $1.50-$3.50 for water or regular fountain drinks #WDDDA?? So add drinks and dinner can get upwards of $40 for two people for a BUFFET. The buffet is priced more reasonably during lunch hour. I'm old school so buffets should not cost anymore than $20-$30 for two people, IMO. I'm also not a huge fan of sushi so I only occasionally eat it. And unfortunately this is the place for sushi & seafood so that is the largest of their selection. I tend to only eat the vegetables, noodles & ice cream in this place. Their buffet doesn't have enough variety (outside of seafood) for me to choose from. And they don't have the typical "kid" food: fries, chicken fingers, pizza, etc, etc so my step-son had a hard time choosing something to eat that he actually likes. The vanilla & chocolate chip ice cream here tastes great though. I like the overall atmosphere in this place. It is always nice, quiet and calming. The decor is typical of an Asian buffet. As for the service, the waitresses are hit or miss here. Sometimes you get a very good, attentive waitress, other times you get one that is not so great.

Overpriced! Subpar food! The sushi portion of the buffet has a large variety of mediocre rolls. Definitely NOT worth the $20 per person! First and last visit... FOR SURE!

Since I spend most of my time in Kendall this is the place I normally go. They get pretty busy during lunch but do a good job of refilling the rolls quickly and this helps to keep everything fresh.

really 3.5 stars.. is there way to rate 1/2?? ok so this place is nothing fancy. its an all you can eat buffet. they have plenty to choose from... salads, about 20 diff rolls, sashimi, the hibachi grill and the chinese food as well, oh yeah and dessert. everything is pretty decent, but make sure to go with an appetite or the $19 set price for dinner wont be worth it!!

I love Japanese food and have been to places like this in the past, so if your like me your going to know what I'm talking about. I took my family to this place last night after my wife suddenly had a craving for Japanese food. I personally didn't have the sushi and I will tell you why. I saw them cleaning displays right next to the sushi that was on display. While they were splashing water with a house hose the water was falling on the sushi on display. If they were this careless about cleaning I could only imagine how careless they were in the preparation of the sushi. I decided to stick to the hot food buffet. I can list what the had and I remember cause it was such a small list. Vegetable fried rice (on the bland side, and a little under cooked so it was soggy) Breaded fried tilapia (very greasy) Sesame chicken ( not sure why they do this but, it was extremely over cooked and what little chicken they put just tease like 100% flour, I had two inch chunks that I took apart and it was just flour) clams in a garlic sauce (look like was as sitting for a long time) Pepper stake ( I liked it) spring rolls( again like the tilapia very greasy, they put them right in the steel pan so the oil remains on the food the whole time) Steam Vegetables Fried Chicken wings Fried Noodles barbecue spare ribs Now what I don't understand is how they can justify a 19.95 per adult charge for the anemic selection above. I was very upset I didn't spot that very small sign on my way in which would had changed my mind. I've been to Japanese and Chinese buffets in Boca, Miami, Hialeah and Homestead which are half the price and have three times the selection of foods. My favorite still is Imperial Buffet in Homestead. This place is the best keep secret. I we were in the area the very next day and I took my family there just to get the taste of Kyojin our of your mouth and the memory out of our heads. We ate until we couldn't hardly walk and the bill for 3 adults and 3 kids came to 43 dollars compared to 96 dollars at Kyojin. I learned my lesson about Kyojin and hope my experience helps others to make the right decision. Thanks, Jorge Vializ

Came here for lunch wanting sushi and was feeling very hungry. Staff was your typical no-eye-contact asian waiters/waitresses. One must realize coming into a buffet you accept a few terms and conditions. You must not expect high quality service, or gourmet food. The buffet is the sea and you must tame it to your own mercy and your plate is the scepter to pierce the stormy clouds to brave the shores of the New World. Anyways with that being said, the sushi was excellent for ~$14.00 I personally had about 3 plates worth of nigiri and rolls. The rolls weren't overly stuffed with cream cheese either! The nigiri pieces were of course a bit padded with rice, but! the slices of fish were quite generous all things considered. Besides the sushi, they had your standard Chinese foods. They also had a chocolate fondue fountain, CRAWFISH, mussels, shrimp etc. Definitely a great place to go with friends who are looking to be cheap and just pig out!

I saw a review that said this was probably the best Japanese buffet in Miami, and as a visitor from the left coast, I'd be inclined to take their word for it. Everything I tried was clean, fresh and flavorful, and they have a huge selection of items available. Seemed a good deal for the price. Definitely recommended.
